The Pattullo_Bridge is another joke of inept BC infrastructure that should have been replaced decades ago.
"The existing bridge is currently being replaced with a new cable-stayed four-lane bridge with new connections on both the New Westminster and Surrey approaches. The new bridge also incorporates barrier-separated dedicated walking and cycling lanes which can be removed in order to allow a future 6-lane expansion of the bridge." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pattullo_Bridge#Replacement_Bridge

The new bridge should have been designed to have 6 lanes with at lest 2 wide shoulders.

Then it could have been an 8 lane crossing including 2 rapid bus lanes so whenever the Sky-bridge had undergone maintenance, the bus lanes would always be ready as HOV space. A provision for a lower level should have been implemented for future tram, bus & bike lanes.
Instead, everything will be funneled into just 2 lanes each way.

The Skytrain bridge should have had a provision to have 4 tracks or at least 3.
