This is so sad, but there has been a strong KEEP+THEM+OUT agenda in Vancouver for several decades. If business & the overall urban infrastructure can continually be held back, that means Vancouver can continue to fall behind what Toronto & Calgary, Seattle & SF allow.
Since most of the world is compose on non white people, any agenda to KEEP PEOPLE OUT, or at least slow down the influx of people, has been very carefully crafted. Vancouver has always had a white power structure to try to keep the city a provincial backwater.
To be fair, over the past several decades, its become a predominantly white power structure that refuses to build proper big city infrastructure.
Fortunately, this mentality hasn't taken over Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Seattle, SF & especially LA, Chicago & NYC. Most major cities want to attract business & people, regardless of their skin color. They allow trains to be longer, roads & bridges to be wider & buildings to be much taller.
If Vancouver & BC continues to maintain the, KEEP THEM OUT agenda, the general public must realize that most of the world's population isn't white. Therefore, any agenda to hold Vancouver & BC back is about trying to reduce the influx of non white people.
Sydney, Australia & San_Francisco, CA are just as scenic as Vancouver & Victoria, but they don't impose the same building & infrastructure restrictions that BC does.
